Wow, this is probably the best Robot Fighting I’ve seen…ever. Do you remember Robot Jox? Well, this one is way better. It is very corny and silly, but there is something nice about this father and son movie with robots. It doesn't go too far with the idea.

The basic premise is an updated version of the movie Over the Top. It is about a man that hooks up with his estranged son and bonds with him over robot competitions. So, it is a remake of sorts of Over the Top. They even have them traveling via a semi truck! There is even a lot of Rocky in the movie too.

It is true that this is rock “em sock em robots” the movie, but that’s okay. I liked the bonding between father and son. And, the CGI is pretty good and much better than the robots in the second Transformers movie. It isn’t a great movie, but it is a fine movie for what it is.

The fighting scenes are what really make this an exciting movie. The fighting really feels real for what giant robots would seem like in this world. It has a bit of a Tekken vibe with fighting styles and it works here. Plus, they throw in real boxing elements that make it far more entertaining than I thought it would be. The last fight is very much like a boxing videogame.

The movie also hints at the fact the underdog robot may actually be alive, but only on the surface. It never fully comes out and states it, but it is certainly present. I’m glad that didn’t answer that question either.

The movie is far from a masterpiece and it should be noted that this unofficial remake of Over the Top. Plus, it feels like there are scenes missing and certain subplots were dropped. Despite this, the movie is a fun little movie with some heartwarming moments and nice fight scenes between CGI robots. Heck, I liked the movie.
